Fatima Messages/Prophecies

May, 1917: "Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the suffering He wills to send you...Then you are going to have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your comfort."
1. All three children endured scorn and hostility (even from their own family members), interruption of their lives by visting strangers and threats of death from a local government official who 'kidnaped' them for a day and put them in prison.
2. In July, the children were granted a terrifying vision of hell that made a lifelong impression on the innocent children.
3. Jacinta and Francisco died from the worldwide outbreak of influenza after a great deal of physical suffering within two years of the apparitions.
4. Lucia became physically weak and continued to endure scorn and attention. She has lived and seen, in sorrow and frustration, the fulfillment of prophecies resulting from the lack of heeding Virgin's requests. She has been a cloistered nun for almost 80 years.

July, 1917: "..Tbe war is going to end; but if people do not cease offending God, a worse will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light know that this is the great sign..."
The New York Times for January 26, 1938: "The Aurora Borealis rarely seen in Southern or Western Europe spread fear in parts of Portugal and lower Austria tonight while thousands of Britons were brought running into the streets in wonderment." Within a couple months, Hitler absorbed Austria and later Czechoslovakia: the de facto start of World War II.

July, 1917: "If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errrors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church."
This message was given a few months after Lenin arrived in a Russia which was still nominally 'Christian' at the time. A final vision (following one in 1925 and 1926) in 1929 told her that the time had come for the consecration to take place by the Holy Father. Russia was not consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and few responded to the Fatima message: the slaughters of the Communists in Russia, World War II and the Cold War resulted.

Pope John Paul II in 1984 (after previous consecrations of 1982 and 1983): "So we have wanted to choose this Sunday, the third Sunday of Lent of the year 1984, still within the Holy Year of the Redemption, for the act of entrusting, of consecrating the world, the great human family, all peoples, especially those in such need of this consecration, this entrustment." Sister Lucia said that God had accepted the consecration. One year later, in March 1985, Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of the Soviet Union. His policies led to the end of the Communist domination of Russia and Eastern Europe.

Three Secrets of Fatima
1. The Virgin's desire that the devotion to the Immaculate Heart would be established.

2. The need for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart.

3. Written in 1944, hidden in secrecy by the Popes since 1960, the third secret was a vision of desolation and slaughter of the Pope and those loyal to him on the top of a high mountain. John Paul II, who revealed the secret in 2000, saw himself as that Pope. However, rather than dying, he was miraculously spared an assassin's poisoned bullet in 1982 which he attributed to the Blessed Virgin of Fatima.
