Marian Apparitions
You will make this known to all my people
Mary to the Children at La Salette, 1846
The miracles of the Old Testament were a witness to the reality of the God of Israel. Christ's miracles served a similar function in the New Testament:
"Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name" (John 20:30,31).
The apparitions and accompanying miracles of the Blessed Virgin throughout the ages testify to the validity of the Roman Catholic Church's teachings on the Mother of God and the specific messages given at each appearance.
For those who doubt the reality of and role of the Blessed Virgin: "...though you will not believe me, believe the works..."(John 10:38).
It should be noted that all apparitions listed have been completely investigated and approved for authenticity by the Roman Catholic Church.
All apparitions included have made a significant impact (i.e. shrines built, devotions developed). The
most familiar and 'popular' are marked ( * ).
