Marian Apparitions: Beauraing

Beauraing, Belgium; 1932

Witness
Four youth

Summary
Four young people, Albert, Gilberte and Fernande Voisin (ages 9, 13 and 15) and and Andree, and Gilberte Degeimbre (ages 14 and 9), saw the figure of a lady dressed in white with clouds at her feet walking above a railroad viaduct. The following thirty two appearances were above a hawthorn tree in the grotto between the viaduct and the local convent. No adult could see or hear the Virgin, and most were sceptical even when the children simultaneously kneeled and recited Hail Mary.

Intial skepticism gave way to acceptance as the children went nightly to the convent grotto to pray and visit with Mary and were tested by physicians. Slapping, pinching, bright lights in their fixated eyes and even the flame of a candle under Gilberte's and (which did not burn the skin) had no effect once the children were in supernatural communion with the Blessed Virgin.

Messages to the children were few, emphasizing prayer, the building of a chapel and penance. All five were given secrets which have never been revealed. On January 3, the final night, some adults in the crowd which now numbered 30,000 saw a brilliant ball of fire above the hawthorn's branches. The events were publicized across Europe and two million pilgrims came to the small town in 1933 alone with many instances of miraculous conversions and cures.

Messages/Prophecies
"Always be good." (Dec. 2)
"I am the Immaculate Virgin" (Dec. 21)
[Why do you come?] "That people might come here on pilgrimages." (Dec. 23)
"Pray always."
"Do you love my Son? Do you love me? Then sacrifice yourself for me."
"I will convert sinners." (Jan. 3) The apparitions of 1968 are the fulfillment of this prophetic promise.
