Intentions of the Holy Father
The Pope presents a list of monthly intentions to the Apostleship of Prayer each year. However, these are not the only 'intentions' that are included....
The "Pope's intentions" usually refer to the welfare of the Church and religion. They include, unless otherwise stated*:
1. The exaltation of the Church
2. The uprooting of heresies
3. Peace among Christian nations
4. The propagation of the Faith
5. The conversion of sinners.

Thus, praying for the Pope's intentions is a powerful weapon against the modernism and other problems in the post-Vatican II Church.
* These intentions have never been set aside and are therefore joined with the current intention.
