Confession and Contrition
1.    What are the types of contrition? 

    ~  Imperfect: sorrow because we fear hell and punishment 

    ~  Perfect: sorrow purely for having hurt and offended God

2.  What special value has perfect contrition?
 
  Our sins are forgiven immediately, but we must still must confess mortal sins. 

3.  Name the qualities of true contrition. (IS-US)

   ~   Interior: sorrow is truly from the heart

      ~ Supernatural: we are sorry because of the effect it has on our relation to God 

       ~ Universal: we are sorry for all sins  

    ~  Supreme: we prefer suffering to offending God 

4. Does the penance given by the priest always make full satisfaction for our sins? 

     No, so we should engage in prayer and other goods works and gain Indulgences. 

5. What are the effects of Penance? (FIRRS)

   ~   Forgiveness of sins 

    ~ Increase of sanctifying grace 

   ~   Restoration of sanctifying grace and the merits of good works lost by mortal sin 

 ~    Remission of eternal punishment, and part of temporal punishment for sins 

   ~   Strength to avoid sin in the future
