3. Why does the Church have us fast/abstain?
So that we may mortify (discipline) the flesh and satisfy God for our sins.
4. What are days of abstinence?
Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent when no flesh (red or bloody) meat and anything made from meat is eaten (age 14 +).
5. What are minimum mandated fasting days?
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, when only one full meal and two smaller meals are eaten (18+).
