Mortal and Venial Sin 1. What are the types of actual sin?
~ Mortal: a serious offence against God that kills the soul and deserves hell
~ Venial: weakens the soul and displeases God (often leading to mortal sin)
2. What is venial sin?
Less serious sin that may be pardoned by prayer and good works.
3. How does mortal sin kill the soul?
By depriving it of sanctifying grace, the supernatural life of the soul.
4. What happens to those who die in mortal sin?
They will go to hell for all eternity.
5. What makes a sin 'mortal'
~ Serious matter (i.e. lying an other sins defined in the Bible)
~ Sufficient reflection (must be understood as seriously wrong)
~ Full consent (engaged in without reservations)
6. Which are the four sins crying to heaven for vengeance?
~ Willful murder
~ Oppression of the poor
~ Sin of Sodom (homosexuality)
~ Defrauding the worker of his/her wage.
