Commandment Four

    'Honor thy father and  thy mother' 

1.  What does this Commandment require?
    To love, reverence,  obey parents (in all that is not sin), and assist them in their needs. 

2.  Who else should be obey?
    Bishops and pastors in union with the Pope, civil officials and lawful superiors. 

3.  Are we bound in justice to contribute to the  support of our pastors? 

    Yes:  St. Paul says ' The  Lord ordained that they who preach the Gospel  should    
      live by the Gospel'. Cor.9:14

4.  What is the duty of parents towards   children? 

     ~ Provide for them

 ~ Instruct and correct them 

 ~ Give them a good         
     Catholic education 

5.  What is the duty of all those in authority? 

    To take proper care of those under their charge, and to enable them to practice     
      their religious duties. 

6.  What does this  Commandment forbid? 

Contempt,  stubbornness, and disobedience to our parents and lawful superiors. 

7.  Is it sinful to belong to a Secret Society? 

    Yes, if they plot against the Church or State, or if they are condemned  by the      
      Church.
