The Birth and Passion of Christ
1. What is meant by Incarnation of Christ?
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God the Son took a Body and Soul like ours, in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
2. Did Jesus Christ any father on earth?
No: St. Joseph was His guardian or foster-father.
3. Where and when was Jesus born?
In a stable at Bethlehem on Christmas Day 4BC.
4. What were the three chief sufferings of Christ?
~ His agony (sweat of blood in the Garden)
~ His scourging and crowning with thorns
~ His carrying of the cross and crucifixion
5. What are the chief sufferings of our Lord called?
The Passion.
6. Why did our Savior have to suffer?
To atone (reconcile or 'make one') for our sins, and to gain eternal life for us.
7. Why is Jesus Christ called our Redeemer?
Because by 'bought back' our salvation through the shedding of His precious blood.
8. When and where did our Saviour die?
Our Savior died on Good Friday (AD 33) on Mount Calvary.
9. Why do we make the sign of the cross? To remind us of the Blessed Trinity (words we say) and that Christ died on the cross (form we trace).
